Why the hands off approach to this clown? Why is impeachment the logical response that dare not speak its name? This hambone is riding a 30% approval rating; no one cares if we ship him back to Texas with a dunce cap on.

Jennifer

Speaking as a Texan, I don't know if we want him back.

Nice cash counter. Reminds me of the one near Penn Station in Manhattan that reminds everyone of the climbing national debt. Right: I'm just going to go convulse quietly in a corner. Ignore the eye-tic.

I'm tired off those comparisons between Hitler and George W. Bush! Hitler was a highly decorated combat veteran who won office by majority vote! - Jon Stewart

And do you deny that our armed forces successfully accomplished the mission of 2003 - removing Saddam and his hideous sons????? I followed this link from another homeschool blog and am saddened and dismayed at this sentiment. History will reveal the rightness of our brave President's actions and the folly of the naysayers (unless the history books are written by the "hate America" crowd that posts here).

And do you deny that our armed forces successfully accomplished the mission of 2003 - removing Saddam and his hideous sons?

No, I don't deny that at all. Was that the mission?

Then why are we still there?

If it was accomplished then, why have an additional 3200 Americans died over there since?

the "hate America" crowd that posts here

"Hate America?" I love America and, judging from what they've posted, so do the folks who post on here, many of whom are either in the military, were in the military, or are married to folks in the military.

Maybe that's why so many of them seem upset at the way President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney, both of whom turned tail and ran when given the chance to serve their nation in the military, have done their level best to destroy the military, all to enrich their already obscenely-wealthy friends, some of whom——hello, Halliburton!—have repaid them by then moving their company offshore to avoid paying taxes.

Or perhaps you enjoy paying more in taxes so billionaires don't have to pay a dime.

That's without even mentioning the hideous mistreatment of returning vets at Walter Reed, a situation the administration and GOP congressman knew about for years and did nothing to fix.

Then there's stoploss, extended tours, shortening the amount of time between tours, a recent report by the US Army Medical Department themselves that the rate of mental illness is rapidly rising in US soldiers due to the incredible stress of what we've asked them to do.

And, course, that old favorite: sending troops into battle without the necessary equipment or training.

This is what it means to love your country?

I think you must have a very, very different idea of love, my friend.

"To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public."

Teddy Roosevelt said that, a man who knew not only what it was like to be president, but who understood war, having served his nation heroically.

A man who understood what it was to love his country.

I'm sorry you were upset by the post, C. We have something in common: I'm upset at the loss of so many of our bravest.

For whatever it's worth, I hope you'll stick around. Maybe this is the beginning of a fruitful conversation.
