Barnes and Barnes really seemed to find their true instrument with the realease of their next album, "Filet of Soul." This darker, moodier, much more atmospheric offering of pain and longing came to define, for some, the later-Reagan era feeling of disillusionment and inertia, a sound that some say was a forebearer to styles that would come in the 1990s from bands such as Stone Temple Pilots.

But all wasn't rosy for Barnes and Barnes as the 1980s drew to close, and the pressures of superstardom and wealth began to exact a heavy toll. When "Behind The Music" continues in a moment.
