So a while back I admitted that I couldn’t help myself—I really dig prog.
In fact, this manages to take the very worst of prog and somehow make it even worse—no mean feat.
I’m not sure I’ve ever experienced any piece of music which was less rock and roll than this. Pat Boone covering Ozzy was more rock and roll.
It is so tasteless, so over-the-top, so just plain hideous that it actually sorta manages to break on through and come full circle and in its sheer ridiculousness captures some tiny bit of the rock and roll spirit, if none of its sound or anarchy. And what the hell, it’s not like the original band was devoid of ridiculousness, not by a very, very, very long shot.
Besides, they’re just kids and they look really happy to be doing this. And they obviously worked like hell. Props to them, I say. [And a few of the girls are really cute. I mean, you know, not nearly a Top Management level of cuteness, but then who is?]
So well done, kiddies. It looked like you had fun. I hope so. I hope all that hard work paid off for you.
But please please please. Stay away from Bruce and Nirvana.
But maybe Radiohead would work next year. That I could see.
"Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii...am born agaiiiiiiiiiiiin!" [clap!]
Come on...you KNOW everything is better with Jazz hands!

My resident prog rock fan (you know who I mean--the old guy) was appalled. Absolutely appalled. He couldn't stop being appalled.
I'm just appalled at show choirs, period, let alone show choirs singing Roundabout.
