It's funny. My oldest daughter (almost 8) is a tomboy: baggy sk8r dude shorts, she is playing baseball, etc. But if you watch closely, the deeper differences still shine through. In the mornings she spends 20 minutes figuring out which pair of ratty baggy shorts and t-shirt, sports teams are chosen by the quality of the uniform, smacking someone in the head is only moderately funny instead of hillarious. The conflicting forces are a joy to watch.

Yes, if a mite confusing. I mean...what's NOT funny about smacking someone in the head? How is that not hilarious? I don't get it.

The Bean watched a few minutes of the first Rangers/Devils playoff game with me today.

"Doesn't playing hockey...hurt?" she asked.

"Well...yes," I replied.

"Huh," she answered, and then paused a long time. "I don't think I'll play hockey."

Then she got off the couch, walked about ten feet away, ran at me as fast as she could and jumped onto my stomach.

Just had to post a note. I have nothing to say. Your smart readers say everything better than I do and with more wit and charm. Just wanted to weigh in and say with a loud voice: I love your family!
